Happy Little World

White Panicle Asters are an herbaceous, native perennial and, at this time of year, their buds are beginning to burst.  They are a favourite of all the pollinators and already (the flowers aren’t yet at their peak) it’s a veritable honey factory in our laneway garden.

Happy Little World

White panicle asters bloom by the lane,
A sweet little cloud in the sun and the rain.
A buzzy white shop with a nectar-filled floor,
Where tiny winged guests come a-knocking the door.

The honey bees dance in the cool morning light,
While bumble bees hum with a frenzied delight.
Hoverflies hover, they’re an active wee crew.
And paper wasps stop for a quick sip of dew.

With petals of white like a star-studded sea,
A perfect small town for a bug and a bee.
They drink and they spin in the bright autumn air,
With magic and honey and joy everywhere.
