We had an interesting but unpleasant experience today. It was mid-afternoon, we were sitting outside enjoying the forest behind us, it was not damp, neither was it sunset time, yet we were suddenly bombarded by Asian Tiger Mosquitoes. And they were biting.
Ode to a Mosquito
A striped little monster from Hell,
Decided that mid-day went well.
“Forget the old rule,
Dusk is purely for fools!”
And drank ’til his tummy did swell.
The mossies we used to invite,
At least had the grace to use night.
But this tiger-striped jerk,
Skipped the clock for its work,
And took a large, afternoon bite!
“Beauty is truth” Keats would say,
But he never sat outside by day,
Where a striped little beast,
Made our ankles a feast,
And chased all the romance away!
’Til next time, y’all…
