The Bridge, the Rope, and the Running Bare Feet
The bench by the river was her sanctuary, offering a perfect, quiet view of the old rope bridge, which had seen better days — much better days.
From her usual spot in the cool, quiet shade of the park, she watched the little bridge sway over the water, just as it had for decades. Today, a new generation of tiny, barefooted pirates and fierce defenders charge across the wooden slats. Decades ago, her own children had claimed this exact spot for their endless games of “capture the bridge”. Hearing the familiar battle cries echoing through the park brought a flood of old memories back to the riverbank.
She kept her distance, content to watch their exuberant antics from afar with an amused smile. In an age where most children remain glued to glowing screens, this flamboyant display of pure imagination delighted her. The old rope bridge had seen better days, but it was still doing what it had always done best: Launching adventures.
