Wash and a Brush-Up

American Robin (Turdus migratorius)

I caught a juvenile male robin grooming himself, sitting on the top of our fence. He was comical. Robins really do have the best personalities, especially when they think no one is watching.

Wash and a Brush-Up

Upon the fence a feathered knight,
A flash of rust and belly white,
With twitchy tail and awkward pose,
He preens right down to his dark toes.

He fluffs his chest and shakes his head,
This dapper guy in rusty red,
Then bends a leg to scratch an ear,
Before he starts to chirp and cheer!

‘Til next time, y’all…

  1. Great captures of the robin. I love the poem!

    1. Thank you Beth. I’m told I have a very juvenile approach to poetry! xx
