My trusty friend, The OED, tells me that the colour “lilac” is a moderate to pale grayish-purple or a light purplish-pink.

With apologies to Terri, our Lilacs have finished here in southern Ontario, and the only Lupins I know of are in the Monty Python sketch “Dennis Moore” — “Give me all your Lupins!” — played superbly by the amazingness that is John Cleese. Are you a Python fan too?
Yesterday I enjoyed a lovely, long mooch about in the forest at Point Pelee National Park where the woodland floor is painted with all shades of Lilac.
German Iris (Iris germanica)
Considered by Botanists to be the Granddaddy of all Bearded Irises.

Herb-Robert (Geranium robertianum)

Dame’s Rocket (Hesperis matronalis)
‘Though a very pretty wildflower, here in Ontario, Dame’s Rocket is on the Invasive Species list.

And, best for last – my favourite:
Forest Phlox (Phlox divaricata)
Also regionally known as Woodland Phlox and Wild Blue Phlox.

As always, very sincere thanks to the lovely Terri for continuing to remind us each week, of the joy we experience through flowers. This week her post is full of amazing details, information, I’m sure, will be as new and as fascinating to you as it was to me. It goes without saying that her images are top drawer. I encourage you to visit her blog post today; you’ll be glad you did, promise:
