Black and White is More!

Six months or so after moving into this home, and after many hours of discussion, we decided to sell my Rogue (affectionately, “The Mudmobile”) and become a one-car couple.  There were many positives and, truly, the negatives have been minimal and manageable.  But there are hiccups, and today was a very minor one of those.

We had errands to run in Windsor and I ended up sitting on a rock on a corner waiting for Cam to collect me.  Happily I had an old camera and lens (D500 and jack-of-all-trades DX 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3).  Not ideal, but lovely to pass the time with and get in a little practice.

I had a NYFA Prof whose near-constant refrain was that a good photographer could find interesting subjects virtually anywhere.  I’ve since heard others saying something similar but, for me, the jury’s still out.  Today’s shots are all of the most mundane subjects you could possibly conceive.

Color is everything, black and white is more.

Whilst processing today’s images I thought of Mr. Rouse’ words of wisdom and decided to convert them all to black and white.  With such absurd subjects, the look felt a little interpretive.  Or maybe I mean introspective.  When you look them over, please remember I took them all from one spot (my butt didn’t move off that rock).  Any and all suggestions and recommendations will be gratefully received!

’Til next time, y’all…

Dominic Rouse is an English photographer whose speciality is commercial and fine art photography. I’m an enormous fan and wish he had a blog to follow along with (and learn from)!
