Canada Gooses are majestic. Barrel-chested.
The envys of all ornithologys.†

This post is inspired by an article in today’s papers:
Ontario man fined $1,000 for ‘throwing large rocks and swatting’ at Canada geese
It is the story of a cruel and ignorant resident of my beloved Essex County who, first caught a gosling, and then threw rocks at its parents who, rightfully so, went on the attack, trying to rescue their kiddo. His self-confessed intent was to badly injure them, but…
Canada geese are federally protected migratory birds, and happily — armed with their phone cameras — members of the public alerted the Ministry of Natural Resources and took copious pictures and videos to secure the conviction.
Today’s shots are all from Monday’s outing where I saw both my First Family of 2026 and, mere minutes later, my Second Family of 2026 — both at the wonderful Hillman Marsh Conservation Area.
First Family 2026

Mum, Dad and 8 goslings.
Digue Couture Dyke
Second Family 2026

Mum, Dad and 2 goslings.
Hillman Creek
[The only reason there is a second family this year is that I saw them very nearly simultaneously.]
If you’ve got a problem with Canada Gooses then you’ve got a problem with me and I suggest you let that one marinate!†
Ditto!

’Til next time, y’all…
