The Flower Hour #23:  Phorest Phloxy Phlorals*

Thanks as always to Terri for another Flower Hour reminder.  She chose Phlox this week and — ta da — this is actually a flower I have in my collection.

Here in south-west Ontario, and especially at Point Pelee National Park, we have a species of wild Phlox, known as Forest Phlox (Phlox divaricata) and fancifully, Wild Blue Phlox and Woodland Phlox.

Forest Phlox is an herbaceous, native, pollinator-friendly perennial with sweetly aromatic flowers that range in hue from violet to blue to white.  In late May through early June, the woodland floor at Pelee is awash with these beauties and their scent is pure magic!

Please take a moment to enjoy the beautiful pictures Terri posted today — she has three species I’ve never seen:

The Forest Phlox of Point Pelee:

And a Leafhopper (Osbornellus scalaris)

’Til next time, y’all…

*Specific spelling to honour DJ Phlash Phelps who we adore in our home.
